How to Update GardePro Trail Camera Firmware (Cellular Models)

Keeping your GardePro cellular trail camera up to date ensures optimal performance, stability, and access to new features. Similar to other leading trail cameras, such as Tactacam Reveal 3.0 firmware updates and Spypoint FLEX-M firmware updates, GardePro supports both instant OTA updates and manual SD card firmware updates, giving you flexible options to keep your camera current.

  • We currently support three firmware upgrade methods, depending on your camera model:
  • Immediate OTA Firmware Update – for Live Series cameras, such as GardePro X66 Series and X60 Pro Max.
  • Scheduled OTA Firmware Update – for other GardePro cellular trail cameras, like X20, X50, and many models from Tactacam, Spypoint, or Moultrie
  • Manual SD Card Firmware Update – available for all models, with detailed instructions and video here.

Immediate OTA Firmware Update (GardePro Live Series)

If you own a GardePro X66 Pro Cellular Trail Camera, you can enjoy instant OTA firmware updates, ensuring your camera is always running the latest version.

Steps:

  • Open the Camera Status Page in the GardePro app.
  • Under Camera Version, check for a “New Version” prompt.
  • Tap the New Version prompt – this will take you to the firmware update page.
  • Tap Install–the firmware will begin downloading and installing immediately.
  • Ensure the battery is above 20% and avoid powering off or removing batteries during the update.
  • Once completed, the Install button will change to Completed, and you’ll return to the Camera Status Page.

✅ This method updates your camera instantly after you tap Install, with no delay.

Scheduled OTA Firmware Update (X20, X50, etc.)

Other GardePro cellular trail cameras also support OTA firmware updates, but these are scheduled updates. The upgrade will be triggered during the next photo transmission cycle, instead of immediately.

Steps:

  • In the Camera Status Page, check for the “New Version” prompt under Camera Version.
  • Tap the New Version prompt .
  • A confirmation dialog will appear — tap OK to schedule the update.
  • The camera will automatically download and install the new firmware the next time it uploads photos.
  • Keep your camera powered and connected until the update completes.

⚠️ Please note: This is a delayed OTA update and depends on your camera’s photo transmission schedule.

💡 Many other cellular trail cameras, including Tactacam Reveal 3.0 firmware updates, Spypoint FLEX-M firmware updates, and Moultrie Edge 2 firmware updates, also support scheduled OTA upgrades, similar to GardePro’s X20 and X50 cameras.

Manual SD Card Firmware Update (All Models)

If OTA is not available, or if you prefer a manual method, all GardePro cameras support firmware updates via SD card.

Quick Overview:

  • Insert a fully charged battery and SD card into the camera.
  • Format the SD card using the camera menu.
  • Connect the camera to your computer with the included USB cable.
  • Copy the correct firmware file for your model to the SD card. (Please contact GardePro customer support to obtain the file.)
  • Power off the camera, then hold the Menu button while turning it back on.
  • The camera will automatically upgrade its firmware.
  • After completion, check the firmware version in the menu to confirm the update.
