GardePro Cellular Trail Camera Activation Tips & Guide

If your GardePro cellular trail camera remains stuck on “Activating...” or the 4G icon displays a question mark, follow the steps below to complete the activation process.

These instructions apply to GardePro cellular trail cameras. Some settings may vary depending on the camera model, SIM card, country, modem, and firmware version.

Before changing SIM settings, make sure the battery is sufficiently charged, the SIM card is correctly installed, and the camera is located in an area with cellular network coverage.

1. Check the Three Status Icons

When the GardePro Mobile app displays “Activating...”, check the three status icons in the upper-left corner of the camera screen. These icons can help indicate whether the camera is detecting the SIM card, searching for a cellular network, or connecting to the app.

2. Keep the Camera Screen Active

During activation, the camera searches for a cellular network only while the camera screen is active. If the screen turns off, the network search may stop.

Tap the Down button approximately once every minute to keep the screen active. The screen may turn off automatically after several minutes of inactivity.

As an alternative, open Menu > Motion Test and point the camera toward a wall. This can help keep the screen active while the camera continues searching for a network. Do not leave the camera in Motion Test mode longer than necessary.

3. If the 4G Icon Shows a Question Mark

A question mark next to the 4G icon usually means that the camera is still searching for a cellular network or has not completed the network connection.

  1. Keep the camera screen active.
  2. Place the camera in an area with a stronger cellular signal.
  3. Wait at least 30 minutes for the camera to search for an available network.
  4. Make sure the SIM card is supported in your camera model and country.

Network availability may vary depending on the local carrier, SIM card, camera model, modem, and firmware version.

4. Restart the Camera

If the 4G icon still shows a question mark after approximately 30 minutes, turn the camera off and then turn it on again. You can repeat this process up to three times.

After each restart, keep the camera screen active and allow enough time for the camera to search for a network.

5. Manually Select the SIM Mode

If the camera cannot automatically select a compatible cellular operator after several restarts, you may need to select the SIM mode manually. The available SIM modes depend on your country, carrier, SIM card, camera model, and modem.

Remove the SIM card from the camera only when the camera is turned off. Insert it into a compatible mobile phone and follow the instructions below.

Method 1: Select SIM Mode on a Mobile Phone

This method can be used with GardePro cellular trail cameras in different countries. Follow the detailed instructions in the knowledge base:

How to Select the SIM Mode on Your Mobile Phone

To check which 4G network services may be available in your country, refer to:

Network support can change by country and carrier. If you are unsure which mode to select, contact GardePro Customer Support before changing the setting.

Method 2: Select SIM Mode from the Camera Menu

This method is available only for certain European and Australian models. It may apply when the camera uses modem model EG915UEUABR03A01M08 and the software version is compatible with the required version.

Check the modem and software version in the camera’s Cellular Info menu before using this method. If your menu does not include the options below, do not force the setting.

  1. Open the camera’s Advanced Settings menu.
  2. Select SIM Services and press OK.
  3. Select Select Mode.
  4. Choose Manual.
  5. Select the appropriate SIM mode according to your local network and SIM card.
  6. Restart the camera and wait for the 4G icon to appear.
