Why is it that I turn the camera on but the screen doesn't light up, the screen is black.

The camera is working and needs to wake up the screen:

Since the GardePro camera does not light up the screen when it is working, if you want it to light up, click on the "Start" button (models with "OFF" and "ON" switching buttons only)/ Slide the switch button to "SET" ( Models with switch button options "OFF", "ON", and "SET")??the camera screen will wake up.This is normal.
