How Do Walls, Height, and Trees Affect the GardePro Link Hub and Camera Signal?

The wireless connection between the GardePro Link Hub and cameras can be affected by the surrounding environment. Physical obstacles, installation height, and vegetation may reduce signal strength and transmission distance.

Walls and Obstacles

Walls and large obstacles can weaken wireless signals.

The standard Link Hub setup uses a 2.4 dBi omnidirectional antenna. When the antenna is mounted directly against a wall, the signal coverage on the side facing the wall may be reduced.

For installations that require longer transmission distances, an upgraded 8 dBi fiberglass antenna can provide improved signal coverage.

Height and Line of Sight

Higher installation locations generally provide better wireless performance because they reduce obstacles between the Hub and cameras.

For example:

• Mounting a Hub or antenna at a higher position (such as from a 4 ft post to a 12 ft structure) can improve signal reception.
• Elevated installations help create a clearer line of sight between the Hub and cameras.

For outdoor installations, we recommend placing the Hub in a high, open location, such as a rooftop or under an eave.

Trees and Foliage

Dense vegetation can weaken wireless signals.

Leaves, trees, and heavy foliage between the Hub and camera can absorb and block part of the wireless signal, especially when the vegetation is wet.

For the best connection:

• Keep the path between the Hub and camera as open as possible.
• Avoid placing the Hub or camera behind dense trees, walls, or large obstacles.
• Test the connection after installation to find the best mounting position.
