Why Does the Camera Only Take Photos or Record Short Videos?

This issue is usually related to the camera mode, trigger settings, SD card performance, or battery status. Please check the following:

Confirm the Camera Mode

  • Make sure the camera mode is set to "Video" or "Photo + Video".
  • If the camera is set to "Photo" mode, it will only capture images without recording videos.

Check the Video Duration Setting

  • Confirm the Video Duration setting is not too short.
  • The default video length is 10 seconds, and most models support recording durations from 3–300 seconds.
  • We recommend setting the video duration between 10–20 seconds for a good balance between battery life and recording performance. Longer videos will consume more battery power.

Check the SD Card Status

  • Make sure the SD card has enough available storage space.
  • A low-speed, incompatible, or nearly full SD card may cause videos to fail, stop early, or save incomplete clips.
  • We recommend using a Class 10 U1/U3 full-size SD card from a reliable brand.

Check Other Camera Features

Make sure features such as Time Lapse, Scheduled Operation, or Power Saving Mode are not affecting normal motion-triggered recording.

Check the Battery Level

When the battery level is too low, the camera may prioritize photo capture and fail to record videos properly in order to conserve power.

If all settings appear correct but the issue continues, please provide:

  • Screenshots of the camera settings (Mode, Trigger Interval, Video Duration, etc.);
  • A sample photo and the corresponding missing/short video clip (if available);
  • Information about the SD card model and capacity.

Our technical team will review the details and help identify the cause.
