How to Fix Live View Issues on WiFi Trail Cameras (iPhone 17)

Updated on Dec 22, 2025

Due to compatibility differences with iPhone 17 models, some WiFi trail cameras may experience Live View issues when connecting to the mobile app.

The camera firmware has been updated to address this issue.

At this time, over-the-air (OTA) updates are temporarily unavailable for WiFi trail cameras, so the firmware must be updated manually using an SD card.

Even if you haven’t experienced any issues, you can follow this guide to update your camera.

Please follow the steps below to complete the firmware update.

What You Will Need

● A computer (Windows or macOS)

● Batteries with sufficient power or a stable external power source

● A USB cable (included in the package)

● A reliable, high-quality SD card

● The correct firmware file (.img) for your camera model

Step-by-Step Firmware Update Guide

Step 0 — Check Your Current Firmware Version (Very Important)

⚠️ Before downloading any firmware, you MUST confirm your camera’s current firmware version.

Different hardware platforms use different firmware branches:

● V6.xx firmware → can ONLY be upgraded to V6.xx

● V8.xx firmware → can ONLY be upgraded to V8.xx

● V6.xx and V8.xx firmware are NOT compatible and cannot be mixed

Installing the wrong firmware version may cause the camera to malfunction.

How to check your firmware version:

1. Power on the camera

2. Go to MENU → Settings → Version

3. Check the Firmware Version displayed (V6.xx or V8.xx)

Step 1 — Download the Firmware

Please select and download the firmware that matches your camera model below.

⚠️ Important — For Cameras with Built-in Storage

If your camera has built-in storage, such as the following models: E6PMB, E8PMB, E9PMB

The firmware upgrade process is different from SD-card-based models.

Step 2 — Prepare the Camera

  1. Insert the SD card into the camera and make sure it is fully seated.
  2. Turn the camera power switch to ON.
  3. Format the SD card in the camera
    1. Important: Formatting will erase all data on the SD card.
    2. Please back up any important photos or videos before formatting.
    3. This ensures the card is clean and ready for the firmware file.
  4. After formatting is complete, connect the camera to your computer using a USB cable.

Step 3 — Copy the Firmware File

  1. On your computer, open the camera’s storage (SD card).
  2. Copy the downloaded xxxx.img file directly to the root directory of the SD card.
  3. Once the file has been copied, safely close the camera storage and unplug the USB cable.

Notes:

● Do not rename the file.

● Do not place it inside any folder.

● The file cannot be opened — just copy or move it to the camera storage.

Step 4 — Start the Firmware Upgrade

  1. Power the camera OFF.
  2. Press and hold the MENU button.
  3. While holding MENU, move the power switch from OFF → ON.
  4. The screen will light up, and the camera will automatically start the firmware upgrade.

⚠️ Do not power off the camera or remove batteries during the upgrade process.

Step 5 — Confirm the Firmware Version

  1. After the upgrade is complete, the camera will restart automatically.
  2. Go to MENU → Settings → Version.
  3. Confirm the firmware version: V6.2.149 or V8.2.149, matching your camera’s original firmware (V6 or V8).

Important Notes

  • Ensure sufficient power before upgrading.

Please make sure the camera has fresh batteries installed or is connected to a stable external power source before starting the firmware update.

  • Do not power off the camera during the upgrade.

During the firmware update process, do not turn off the camera, remove the batteries, or disconnect the external power supply, as this may cause the update to fail.

  • Use the correct firmware for your camera model.

You must download and install the firmware package that matches your exact camera model. Installing incorrect firmware may cause the camera to malfunction or behave abnormally.
