How to troubleshoot condensate, fog, or moisture on the camera lens?

Cause Explanation

Lens fogging or condensation around the light sensor can occur when there is a significant difference between the camera’s internal temperature and the surrounding temperature. Warm, humid air may condense into tiny droplets when it comes into contact with the colder lens or sensor window—similar to glasses fogging up.

Although the camera has an IP66 weather-resistant design, condensation may still occur in environments with high humidity, frequent rain or fog, or large day-to-night temperature changes. Moisture may also become trapped inside if the camera or its sealed compartments are opened in humid conditions.

Temporary, light condensation usually does not affect the camera. However, persistent or heavy moisture should be addressed to help protect the lens and internal electronic components.

Immediate Troubleshooting for Existing Lens Moisture

1. If possible, move the camera to a dry, well-ventilated indoor location and allow it to adjust gradually to room temperature.
2. Place the camera in a sealed bag or container with silica gel desiccant for 24–48 hours, or until the moisture has completely disappeared.
3. Keep the camera powered off while drying, and avoid turning it on and off repeatedly.
4. Once the camera is fully dry, power it on and check whether the live view, photos, night vision, and light sensor are working normally.

Please Avoid

1. Do not use a hair dryer, heater, oven, or other direct heat source.
2. Do not expose the camera to high temperatures or direct sunlight to speed up drying.
3. Do not disassemble the camera, as this may damage the waterproof seal and internal components.
4. Do not reconnect or operate the camera until the visible moisture has disappeared.

Long-Term Preventive Solutions

1. Choose a sheltered installation location: Install the camera under an eave, canopy, or other covered area to reduce direct exposure to rain, fog, and rapid temperature changes.
2. Allow gradual temperature adjustment: Before installation, let the camera acclimate gradually when moving it between indoor and outdoor environments.
3. Avoid opening it in humid conditions: Do not open the camera, battery compartment, card slot, or sealed covers during rain, fog, or high humidity. Make sure all covers and seals are securely closed afterward.
4. Use protective housing if necessary:  In areas with frequent rain, high humidity, or extreme temperature changes, a compatible outdoor protective housing may provide additional protection.
5. Use desiccant without disassembling the camera: If the camera has a manufacturer-approved, user-accessible housing or compartment, a small silica gel pack may be placed there. Do not open the sealed camera body.
