How to Fix Photo Upload Issues or a Software Version Error on Your Cellular Trail Camera

Some cellular trail cameras may experience issues uploading photos to the GardePro app.

If your camera is no longer sending photos, or displays the following message when powered on:

“The software version is not suitable, please upgrade the software of v6.”

A manual firmware update using an SD card is required to restore normal operation.

We’ve prepared firmware packages and step-by-step instructions for the affected models.

Affected Models: X20-DXE, X50-DXE, X50-UXE, and X60P-UXE

Important: This firmware update applies only to V6 versions of the models listed above. If your camera does not display the message “The software version is not suitable, please upgrade the software of v6.” when powered on, no firmware update is needed.

Please follow the instructions below and use only the firmware package confirmed for your exact camera model. If you’re unsure which package to use, contact our support team at support@gardepro.com before updating.

What You Will Need

  • A computer (Windows or macOS)
  • Batteries with sufficient power or a stable external power source
  • A USB cable (included in the package)
  • A reliable, high-quality SD card
  • The correct firmware file (.img) for your camera model

Step-by-Step Firmware Update Guide

Step 1 — Download the Firmware

Please select and download the firmware that matches your camera model below.

Notes:

  1. Please download only the firmware for your specific model.
  2. The firmware file will be named xxxx.img.
  3. If your computer shows a warning such as “This file may harm your device”, you can safely ignore it.

This file is an official GardePro firmware package used only for camera updates and is completely safe.

Step 2 — Prepare the Camera

  1. Insert the SD card into the camera and make sure it is fully seated.
  2. Turn the camera power switch to ON.
  3. Format the SD card in the camera
    1. Important: Formatting will erase all data on the SD card.
    2. Please back up any important photos or videos before formatting.
    3. This ensures the card is clean and ready for the firmware file.
  4. After formatting is complete, connect the camera to your computer using a USB cable.

Step 3 — Copy the Firmware File

  1. On your computer, open the camera’s storage (SD card).
  2. Copy the downloaded xxxx.V6.2.158.img file directly to the root directory of the SD card.
  3. Once the file has been copied, safely close the camera storage and unplug the USB cable.

Notes:

  • Do not rename the file.
  • Do not place it inside any folder.
  • The file cannot be opened — just copy or move it to the camera storage.

Step 4 — Start the Firmware Upgrade

  1. Power the camera OFF.
  2. Press and hold the MENU button.
  3. While holding MENU, move the power switch from OFF → ON.
  4. The screen will light up, and the camera will automatically start the firmware upgrade.

⚠️ Do not power off the camera or remove batteries during the upgrade process.

Step 5 — Confirm the Firmware Version

  1. After the upgrade is complete, the camera will restart automatically.
  2. Go to MENU → Settings → Version.
  3. Confirm the firmware version: V6.2.158.

Important Notes

Ensure Sufficient Power

Install fresh batteries or connect the camera to a stable external power source before starting the firmware update.

Do Not Interrupt the Update

Do not turn off the camera, remove the batteries, or disconnect the external power supply during the update. Interrupting the process may cause the update to fail.

Use the Correct Firmware

Download and install only the firmware package confirmed for your exact camera model. An incompatible firmware package may cause the camera to malfunction.
